Introduction

If you have ever dreamed of opening your own barbershop to shave interesting patterns with facial hair and earn money doing so, then Barbershop Simulator by Shavetastic is your dream come true. This free, downloadable, windows, indie game was made by a group of game design students. Many a YouTube video was made and the game has practically gone viral. Personally, at first glance I thought that Bossa Studios had made another game in the same vein as Surgeon Simulator. While not as weird and wacky, Barbershop Simulator has much less gore and is fun for a few hours.

Utopian Pig Studio – Indie Game Innovation at its Best

I would like to introduce Utopian Pig Studio, which will serve as the brand of my indie game innovation starting with Pig Pinball. Pig Pinball’s vision is to bring the indie spark of creativity to pinball by introducing unique game modes and pigs. The “standard” game mode has turrets shooting missiles towards your ball. The “Brick Buster” mode is a hybrid of pinball with breakout. Another mode that is still a work-in-progress is the pig farming mode. In this mode, you catch wild pigs in the field and care for them on your ranch. The twist being that all this is done on a pinball table.

Get the game (alpha version) while it’s still free and get all future updates to the game, which includes the full release version when it comes out. Optionally, you may choose to pay in order to support development of the game. What you are still waiting for? Go download Pig Pinball and enjoy some indie innovative fun!

Introduction

Alteil is an online flash-based “online card dueling game” that you can play for free.  It is NOT a trading card game for the simple reason that you can’t actually trade cards with other players.  The card duels are semi fast-paced, flashy, and really fun.  According to the official website, Alteil is the “English version of Japan’s #1 Online Card Game.” It is made with flash so Alteil requires no long downloads.  Different screens take only seconds to load, which is great to play a quick match or two when you feel like it.  For a quick rundown of what Alteil is like go to the official Alteil website.

Alteil has an interesting background story behind it that they keep updating, which helps immerse players into the game’s world.  Japanese games are famous for having lots of story and this game is no exception.
